You may or may not be aware of the Target security breach, with was first detected last month. This security breach (or hack) affected many of Target’s customers who have shopped in-store with the checkouts and not online or by phone.

Here’s what Target’s CEO Gregg Steinhafel has wrote in an E-mail about the security breach and Target’s offering of one years free credit monitoring:

“I am writing to make you aware that your name, mailing address, phone number or e-mail address may have been taken during the intrusion. I am truly sorry this incident occurred and sincerely regret any inconvenience it may cause you. Because we value you as a guest and your trust is important to us, Target is offering one year of free credit monitoring to all Target guests who shopped in US stores, through Experian’s ProtectMyID product which includes identity theft insurance where available.”

So, how do I get my free credit monitoring? You will need to register at before April 23rd 2014.

If you’ve been affected by the Target security breach, we advise that you contact Target and your local authorities if necessary.
